How To Join

Many new students worry that they will be alone as a new white belt. This is not the case! There are always several beginners in the same position as you! And we all started that way ourselves. You will certainly not feel left out.

For those that want a taste of what we have to offer, our Beginners' Course might be for you. In this course, we have a very strong focus on self-defence, along with the basics of karate.

If you feel like coming along to either class, you can watch, or even participate! If you do decide to join in a lesson, make sure you are wearing clothes suitable for a work-out, such as loose pants and a T-shirt.

We are located upstairs on level 1 of the UNSW Fitness & Aquatic Centre, please refer to the following map if you aren't sure where that is:


Training Schedule

The UNSW Karate Club trains two times a week, every week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Below is our schedule for 2020:

Your first lesson is free! If you plan to continue at our club, consider purchasing the Beginner's Package*, which consists of:

  • Karate uniform and club badge
  • Annual club membership
  • One month training

For those looking into training on a casual basis, either the Beginners' Course or 10 class pass options are recommended. Fees for single classes are also available on request.

Note that casual, monthly and trimester fees are to be paid in addition to the annual membership fee.

The trimester fees cover the following periods:

  • 3/02/20 - 16/05/20
  • 18/05/20 - 28/08/20
  • 31/08/20 - 10/12/20
